St Xaviers Holy Church of the Bleeding Cross does blood transfusions
EAP: The breakaway Catholic Church congregation of Saint Xaviers Church of the Bleeding Cross in Dulwich Hill, in the inner suburb of Sydney, has introduced a new service for its congregation. The maverick congregation is well known for giving out small blood drenched crosses from stalls occasionally set up on the main street, Marrickville Road. Father Paul Ryan keeps a coop of chickens for the purpose of providing the needed blood. For its efforts local vegan extremists firebombed the church last November. The church regularly paints a cross on its entrance in blood in recognition of the Exodus event. For its unorthodox practices the Vatican excommunicated the church, its clergy and its entire congregation. Father Paul Ryan is called "A Known Antichrist" by regular Catholics.
Father Paul Ryan describes the doctrines of his church as celebrating the blood of Christ. "Blood is a constant theme in throughout the bible. Blood flows freely throughout the bible, from the sacrifices to the various slaughters and genocides celebrated within its pages. We must keep the holy liquid sacred. The world comes to strife if we allow the blood to clot, giving us the 'Crisis of Coagulation'", Father Ryan told an EAP source. He continued,"That which is solid is worldly stuff, the spiritual stuff is like gas and the liquid is the life sustaining stuff. There can be no liquid without constant spiritual liquidation. No liquid can flow without God making it flow. The holy cross had on it much coagulated blood, being the sacrifice of the lam of God."
Now the church has introduced a new service for its parishioners, blood transfusions. Parishioners come in and give their blood in the church hall decked out like a Red Cross blood donation centre. Father Ryan then blesses the blood in the name of Christ and the parishioners receive their own blood back a few days later. This is thought to be spiritually superior to the usual thimble full of wine of a normal communion service.
The new practice has been criticised by health officials because donors have not been tested for their iron count or parishioners' health status accessed. In addition the facilities are not subject to inspection or health regulations, being a religious practice and not a medical procedure. There are concerns with disease spread. Father Ryan replied to these criticisms in a news conference, "The blood of the Christ is holy and the blessing of a parishioner's blood is of a far stronger kind than any which could be reversed by more world microbes. In fact a parishioner's physical health improve along with their spiritual health."
In addition the church has been criticised by the Jehovah Witnesses for completely turning the teachings of Jehovah upside down. Stunned by this criticism Father Ryan painted a red cross of blood on the front door to the local Kingdom Hall as an act of respect, kindness and brotherly reaching out. The Jehovah Witnesses were not amused.
Consideration is now being given to extending the blood transfusion service to organ excision and retransplanting after a priestly blessing. Originally considered for a kidney this idea has now been narrowed down to a simple skin graft for reasons of practicality.
