EAP: Woman charged with obstructing God's will
CHESTER COUNTY, TENNESSEE. EAP Sat: A 47 year old member of the Second Resurrection Talking Serpent Congregation, Mrs Elizabeth Livingston Dumbarton has been charged with acting contrary to God's Will. The church is the largest building in the tiny cross road hamlet of Serpent Cross Road, so called because it is where an early settler Ebenezer Daniel McNaught Livingstone was bitten by a snake just prior to having visions of his mission sent by an angel of God. Livingstone survived and established his settlement and church on the site which happened to be a cross road. Livingston(e)s still live in the area to this day but due to nearly universal illiteracy in the small community the "e" at the end of the name has been accidently dropped. The hamlet's museum which is basically a tiny shed has a an old sign "Serpent Cross Raod". The sign was replaced after Greg Livingston became the community's first member to complete elementary schooling.
About 10 years ago the small hamlet declared itself to be an independent theocratic republic outside the jurisdiction of local, state and federal laws. The elders of the church act as the court system. It was in this context that Mrs Dumbarton came to the attention of the elders. She was issued with a letter requesting her to attend in person the church council of elders. The offence centred around her dream of triple cousin Edward "Ed" John Livingston known as the "village atheist" and the "village idiot". The dream, as she related to others, was of her sabotaging Ed's car the day before his planned departure from the community.
Head of the church council of elders, Daniel Phillip McNaught determined this dream to be be God's way of Ed coming un to Christ for his salvation. "God's will be done" as Dan puts it. "God", as Dan says, "has perfect knowledge of the future and he is omnipotent. God works through the free will of others, whose actions have been known in advance since the beginning of creation." Later Dan would continue, "God had planned to give Ed a vision on his Road to Damascus with the frustration of not being able to hit the road. Such moments of weakness become proselytisation opportunities. It was God's will for Liz to have sabotaged Ed's car and she failed to do so even though God had known since the beginning of time that this is what she would do because God has perfect knowledge of the future and is never wrong."
Added another council member, "To misuse one's free will in the way Elizabeth Livingston Dumbarton has done to do what God has always known they would not do is surely the greatest blasphemy there is. As it is Ed has left and will get get another opportunity to come un to Christ the Lord." What will be the likely punishment? According the council members most probably a seizure of some of all of her land.
Mrs Dumbarton will face the council of the first of September 2021.
